- ➤ Hundreds gathered at the Sundial Bridge to honor a fallen nurse and others killed during immigration enforcement actions, as local nurses organized the vigil to raise awareness about current immigration policies. - ➤ On Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m., a presentation on the new Sáttítla Highlands National Monument will be held at Shasta College’s Biological Science building, room 1632. - ➤ College of the Siskiyous will hold auditions for its spring production of Ride the Cyclone on Feb. 4 at the Weed campus — the event runs 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and welcomes actors, singers, dancers and crew of all ages and experience levels. Record Searchlight
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Redding City Council is meeting Tuesday to decide if extra funding will support keeping the Civic Auditorium open. The event space faces a funding gap of $1.4 to $1.6 million annually and will close if additional support is not secured. ShastaScout
- ➤ Redding city council changed its plan for the motorsports park lease by asking city staff to draft separate lease options for local clubs. The shift aims to address insurance issues and rising costs as talks continue to move forward — offering hope for a final deal. KRCR
