- ➤ In 2025, Haven Humane Society set a record with 2,134 adoptions as volunteers donated nearly 12,800 hours (including 3,750 dog walks) while helping 718 foster animals and performing 4,798 spay/neuter surgeries. The shelter still needs more loving homes. KQMS

- ➤ The Source of Light art gallery is showcasing 23 artworks by iconic African American artists from the private collection of Archie+Garbo Hearne. The exhibit is open to community members for viewing. Action News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Whiskeytown NRA invites local residents to offer feedback on plans to rebuild the Environmental School after the Carr Fire and burn scar flooding. A public comment period runs until Feb. 21 and a meeting will be held at noon on Feb. 7 at Hatcher Hall on campus. Record Searchlight
- ➤ A Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer tracked down a culprit & issued a citation after a large trash pile was discovered off Underwood Mountain Road in the Big Bar Ranger District of Shasta Trinity National Forest. A crew cleaned up the site over several days. KQMS

- ➤ PG&E announced $50 million in 2026 to help customers with overdue energy bills through expanded REACH and Match My Payment programs — funds will support eligible households meeting federal income guidelines on a first-come, first-served basis. KRCR

- ➤ Shasta-Trinity National Forest has closed roads near Mount Shasta and McCloud Falls until May 1 to enhance safety during winter and early spring conditions — permit holders and authorized personnel are exempt. Record Searchlight

- ➤ Data from Realtor.com shows that Shasta County's median home listing price dropped 2.3% to $425,000 in December, with homes averaging 1,770 sqft at $252 per sqft. In the Redding metro area, the median listing price slightly decreased to $424,975. Record Searchlight
