- ➤ Prescribed burns began Saturday in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and will continue through Friday as weather allows. Up to 190 acres near Interstate 5, 30 near Pondosa, 150 near Trinity Lake and 60 near Wildwood may be closed to the public during the burns. KQMS

- ➤ County supervisors voted on Jan. 20 to approve a letter of support for the proposed Rural Northern California Medical School (aimed at easing a local health professional shortage) as debates over county funding continue while proponents expect the project to create jobs and boost local economic activity.
