COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Five people graduated from the Shasta County Addicted Offender Program on Friday at Veterans Hall in Redding. The ceremony (held Jan. 16) celebrated two years of recovery with certificates from local leaders marking a fresh start for each graduate.  KRCR
  • Norma, a resident at Oakdale Heights Assisted Living on Quartz Hill Road, turned 107 on Jan. 15 and celebrated her milestone with family, staff, and friends who shared laughs and heartfelt wishes. Her birthday marked a special moment of joy and resilience for the community.  KRCR
  • The Veterans Stand Down event is set for Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Glenn County Fairgrounds in Orland, inviting all veterans to participate in a community support gathering.  Action News Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Trax bus service resumed on Friday after a deadly crash claimed six lives on Wednesday, with regular routes running and minor adjustments in Tehama County.  Action News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • On Friday, Jack Potter reported that 25-year-old Jordayn Pimentel, last seen in San Francisco, was located and has been in touch with her family. Authorities had issued a Feather Alert after she went missing in Redding on Jan. 12 (she was wearing a pink sweatshirt).  Action News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that state gas prices will decline for the second consecutive week, with regular fuel reaching an average of $3.98 per gallon on Monday from last week’s $4.03; prices have dropped 4% compared to a year ago.  Record Searchlight

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Shasta-Trinity National Forest will begin prescribed burns today to reduce wildfire risks; burns will continue until Friday, Jan. 23 if weather and approvals allow. Operations will affect parts of McCloud, Shasta Lake, Weaverville and Yolla Bolla roads, and residents should follow posted safety signs.  KRCR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • REU offers a free induction cooktop loaner program (available on a first-come, first-served basis) to active residential customers so they can try a safer, energy-saving way of cooking in their own kitchens.  KQMS

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Boston-qualifying Redding Marathon takes place tomorrow at Shasta Dam with over 600 runners in its marathon, relay and Sundial 5K. Participants will start at 8 a.m., run along the Sacramento River Trail and finish near the Sundial Bridge — registration is still open at Fleet Feet on Hilltop.  KRCR
