- ➤ The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that state gas prices will decline for the second consecutive week, with regular fuel reaching an average of $3.98 per gallon on Monday from last week’s $4.03; prices have dropped 4% compared to a year ago. Record Searchlight
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Shasta-Trinity National Forest will begin prescribed burns today to reduce wildfire risks; burns will continue until Friday, Jan. 23 if weather and approvals allow. Operations will affect parts of McCloud, Shasta Lake, Weaverville and Yolla Bolla roads, and residents should follow posted safety signs. KRCR

- ➤ The Boston-qualifying Redding Marathon takes place tomorrow at Shasta Dam with over 600 runners in its marathon, relay and Sundial 5K.
