COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Community Foundation of the North State announced the 2025 Women's Fund grants to local groups that support economic empowerment — health and family stability in Redding. Pathways to Housing received $10,000, St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Redding got $13,000 and Shasta Community Health Center was awarded $17,000 to improve prenatal care access.  Action News Now
  • The Good News Rescue Mission delivered 500 frozen turkeys to Redding families on Friday, November 21st to help with rising food insecurity and quickly claimed all vouchers. A Thanksgiving banquet and free coat pickup will be held next Wednesday—offering families a chance to share a meal together.  KRCR
  • Bomb Burgers, a Redding food truck, is joining the Stuff the Bus toy drive to bring holiday joy to Northstate children on Nov. 30. The truck will be parked outside the Les Schwab Tire Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—donating 20% of its earnings while inviting locals to name its new inflatable bull mascot with a prize for the top suggestion.  KRCR
  • The new Redding Public Market will open on Dec. 5 and Santa Claus will appear to collect gifts for a community toy drive—local artisans and food vendors will be featured on the Market Street Promenade during this festive event.  KRCR
  • The Community Foundation of the North State has announced nearly $30,000 in grants from its Animal Welfare Endowment Fund. Eight local animal support groups including Haven Humane and Siskiyou Humane will use the funds for rescue, spay and neuter services.  KQMS

  • An adventure business is planning to move into the old Raley's building — and Raising Cane's will open soon in Redding's busy chicken market. These changes are expected to bring new options to local diners.  Record Searchlight
  • Curated, a modern home decor store in downtown Redding, moved on Oct. 1 to a historic building at the corner of California and Shasta Streets — doubling its square footage and showcasing a new mural facing Shasta — as the area continues to revive with neighboring businesses.  KRCR

CRIME NEWS

  • Mothers Against Drunk Driving urges all drivers to plan safe rides for Thanksgiving—AAA predicts 73 million people will travel by car this holiday while the night before Thanksgiving remains especially risky for impaired driving. MADD advises hosts to limit alcohol and make sober ride plans so guests can get home safely.  KRCR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rosedale student Jason Blake won the 21st annual Agri-Bee on Friday morning at the Butte County Farm Bureau in Durham + he earned a new laptop after correctly spelling and defining the word stamen.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The CHP has launched its Chips for Kids toy drive and will accept new unwrapped toys through December 17 during business hours at the CHP Northern Division Office at 2485 Sonoma Street in West Redding — the drive will help local children receive holiday toys.  KQMS
  • CalFresh benefits resumed in Shasta County on Nov. 6 after a federal judge ordered the release of contingency funds in response to the shutdown—county officials confirmed benefits were restored between Nov. 6 and 10.  ShastaScout
  • Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency said it will host a meeting on Senate Bill 43 to discuss changes in care for people with severe substance problems. The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on December 4 in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in Redding and will let people ask questions about the law.  Action News Now
