COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Organizers will host the Really Really Free Market event in East Redding on Saturday, inviting residents to share items they no longer need and pick up free goods (no money will change hands). They also ask participants to donate food for local food banks (the event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Enterprise Park picnic pavilion).  KQMS

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fabric Mass Timber announced it will build a 200,000 square foot factory at Stillwater Business Park that will convert slash and brush from hazardous fuel reduction projects into pre-fabricated housing elements for multi-family units. The facility — designed by WRNS Studio — is expected to create advanced manufacturing jobs while reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional building methods.  KQMS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lassen Volcanic National Park said the Lassen National Park Highway will close for the winter and spring because heavy snow and ice make travel dangerous. The park will allow vehicle access only one mile from the northwest entrance to Loomis Plaza and the southwest entrance to the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center while permitting camping in the Southwest Area parking lot for motorhomes and trailers and advising visitors to check weather forecasts and be cautious near trees damaged by past fires.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Motorists will face delays on Goodwater Avenue as a construction project for a water tie-in near the Barker Office Building at 2535 Shasta View Dr. begins Monday, November 17 and will last until Wednesday, December 19. Traffic will be controlled intermittently between Shasta View Drive and Rainbow Lane from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily — emergency vehicles will still have access and drivers are advised to use alternate routes.  Action News Now
  • Traffic controls are set up on Lockheed Drive between Thunderbird Drive and Meadow View Drive for gas line repairs scheduled today between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.—drivers should plan alternate routes.  Action News Now
  • The City of Redding announced intermittent traffic control at the intersection of Parkview Avenue and Henderson Road, affecting Sierra Pacific Cancer Center. Maintenance work on water and gas utilities will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday, November 17 to Friday, December 19 — the city advises motorists to use caution or alternate routes.  Action News Now
  • With Measure A failing and potential cuts in the tourism department, Redding officials are exploring filmmaking—film director Mike Flanagan is planning new ways to attract filmmakers and boost tax revenue. The initiative aims to provide an alternative revenue source for the city.  Action News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Oak River Rehab on Franklin Street in Anderson was named one of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Nursing Homes for 2026 due to its high quality care and strong staffing—fewer than 19% of homes earned a spot and the facility celebrates over 200 dedicated staff members who support their patients. This recognition highlights the facility’s commitment to providing excellent care in the community.  KRCR

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Work started this year on part of the old Record Searchlight building on Twin View — a site that housed the newspaper for nearly 40 years — as officials plan to repurpose the space for new uses.  Record Searchlight

SPORTS NEWS

  • Redding-area girls volleyball teams won their first-round playoff games as West Valley, Foothill and Shasta battled in tough five-set matches and pulled off upsets while Orland swept and University Prep limited sets to advance. Today at 6:00 p.m. the second round will have Shasta face Foothill — Division IV games will pit West Valley, University Prep and Orland against new opponents.  Record Searchlight
  • Reese Haas led West Valley volleyball with a game-winning kill in their 3—2 win over Roseville on November 11, sending the team to the second round of the Division IV state playoffs.  Record Searchlight
