COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Community Foundation of the North State has launched funds to help residents in Shasta, Siskiyou and Tehama counties as the federal shutdown delays food stamps and other benefits. Local officials and nonprofits plan to raise $1.7 million by Nov. 30 to provide grants for food, housing and childcare—grants that will support government workers missing paychecks. - ➤ Pasta Pronto in downtown Redding is closing and a new restaurant will soon take its place, while Cascade Station will see the opening of two new businesses. More details on the Cascade Station openings are expected to be released later—residents should stay informed. Record Searchlight
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The US Forest Service will start multiple prescribed burn projects in Shasta-Trinity National Forest on November 2 and will continue the operations through November 14 as long as weather permits. Road closures and visible smoke are expected near the burn areas—drivers are advised to slow down for safety. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CAL FIRE celebrated the graduation of 39 new Company Officers at the Redding Training Center on Friday, marking a milestone in the department’s training as Fire Chief Joe Tyler administered the oath. The department had trained over 540 officers in 2025 and plans to graduate more than 650 by the end of the year. Action News Now
- ➤ Redding Police Community Work Program Officers—with help from the Shasta County Alternative Custody Program—cleared 13,000 pounds of trash from illegal homeless camps in Hartnell, Bechelli, Canyon Creek, Middleton and the Churn Creek Open Space on October 31. They have cleared 56,000 pounds this month and more than a half-million pounds this year. KQMS

- ➤ Violet, a young patient from Shasta Lake, underwent a groundbreaking dual lung transplant with simultaneous chest expansion surgery at Stanford Medicine in February and is now recovering well, although she still faces immune issues. - ➤ Haven Humane Society and Animal Balance will host low-cost spay and neuter clinics in Shasta County on November 14-16 and December 5-7 to offer over 400 surgeries for local dogs and cats.
