ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Oct 27th, Tehama County Sheriff's officers rescued a dog from the Sacramento River when a boater first tried to help the animal stranded on a small patch of beach beneath a cliff and officials later located its owner through a local Facebook post to safely reunite the pet with its family. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Redding drivers will face intermittent closures on northbound Churn Creek Road between South Bonnyview Road and Hillmonte Drive from October 31 to November 7 as contractors will trench to install new gas service for future development. Work will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. — emergency services vehicles will have access during the project. Action News Now
- ➤ Crews with the California Department of General Services will harvest the Capitol Christmas Tree from the LaTour Demonstration Forest in Whitmore—eastern Shasta County—to be used at the Capitol. Action News Now
- ➤ Ken Jordan, who manned the Colby Mountain Fire Lookout Tower for 41 years, was told to leave as the tower is slated for demolition—sparking anger among Butte Meadows residents who are reaching out to government officials for support. KRCR
- ➤ RABA and ShastaConnect will offer free bus rides to all polling locations in Shasta County on Tuesday, November 4 to boost voter turnout—services will cover areas including Redding, Anderson, and Shasta Lake. Action News Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ County Health and Human Services is urging residents to call 2-1-1 or 225-5285 — critical for accessing food services before Cal-Fresh benefits end later this week due to the federal government shutdown — while WIC and Cal-Works benefits remain unaffected. KQMS
- ➤ Arch Collaborative and Signature Healthcare submitted a proposal on Tuesday for the True North Behavioral Health Campus despite most Shasta County supervisors opposing the project—seeking $150 million in grant funds to add to Signature Healthcare’s $50 million investment.
