- ➤ A Stand by Me crew member recalled that the team stayed at a local hotel when filming the train bridge scene in Burney for the film's 40th anniversary. He explained how a special technique captured the oncoming train during those two filming days. KRCR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cascade Union Superintendent Jason Provence said a teacher contract proposal was accepted on Apr. 2 and three board members had resigned, prompting the Shasta County Board of Education to appoint Jackie LaBarbera (to restore the quorum) until new members are named. Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A 25-acre solar project along Battle Creek Bottom Road was approved by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors despite pushback from local residents concerned over views, wildlife, and fire risk. - ➤ Caltrans lowered the speed limit to 55 mph on Highway 44 from just east of Airport Road (divided highway end) to Shingletown on Thursday. Officials cited lower collision rates in reduced speed zones and poor visibility near Silver Bridge Road as reasons for the change. KQMS
